Channels

How channels are created, organized, and maintained.

Introduction

In an attempt to keep conversations productive, on topic, but also organized, there’s some general channel guidelines we’d like to follow.

Every manager’s approach is going to be different from managers who spend the majority of their time communicating, providing feedback, and hiring, to managers who are still trying maintaining that balance of individual contributor. The org’s we all work within also play a large role—some org’s have dedicated resources for managing the Creative Pipeline and project timelines, while others are within smaller org’s and are asked to wear many hats. We’ve separated channels by the different responsibilities we have as DM’s (disciplines). Some of these responsibilities may not fall on your plate, or just may not be of interest, and this organization will allow you to focus your questions and input to the disciplines you’re looking to provide the most value to / or gain the most value from.

Naming

Because Slack has lovely character limits on names each discipline has a corresponding shorthand. The sub categories within a given discipline will follow the shorthand.

Channel Requests

To request a new channel or make a suggestion to a current channel, contact both admins (Trevor Rogers and Dave Soderberg) via DM.
